- The desert: at the oasis you switch to a 4×4 Jeep with a high ground clearance and an experienced local driver, who handles sand and tracks.
What camp life is like

- A Bedouin BBQ dinner over an open fire, with tea and breakfast the next morning.
- No electrical outlets, so charge your devices before you leave and bring a power bank.
- A very dark sky, with many stars once the fire is low.
- Cold nights from November to March, so keep warm layers close.
Fitting a desert tour into your Egypt trip
- Plan two days: a one-night trip is the shortest way to see the White Desert, because the round trip is more than 1,000 km.
- Do the desert between city stops: many travelers visit the pyramids and Cairo first and go to the desert before flying to Luxor, Aswan or home.

What time does a desert tour from Cairo start?
Our tours start with a hotel pickup in Cairo or Giza at 07:00 AM. Some operators start between 6:00 and 7:00 AM.
How long is the drive from Cairo to the desert?
The drive from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis is about 360 km and takes around four hours. The White Desert is about 550 km from Cairo, so a full travel day including stops and off-road driving is normal.
What time do I get back to Cairo?
On a classic 2-day tour you return to your hotel in the afternoon of day two, usually around 4 PM. Traffic can add time, so avoid booking a flight for the same evening.
Do I need to bring my passport?
